► STRENGTEN YOUR CHEMISTRI TEAM!
The master's study program is aimed at educating experts with theoretical and practical knowledge integrating knowledge from chemistry, biology, pharmacy and medicin
Graduates of the study program have knowledge of individual parts of modern chemistry, use modern laboratory technology, are able to design and optimize new procedures, carry out syntheses of new compounds, solve the structures of substances, use their knowledge in the management of chemical processes. Graduates have theoretical knowledge and experimental skills that enable them to realize themselves in research and development institutions, whether they are academic workplaces, enterprises or companies.
Students of the applied chemistry study program have the following theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills at the time of graduation:
- they are able to independently solve problems and apply knowledge to other areas of activity, competently operate instrumentation, use a computer to model chemical processes, design and implement new syntheses, solve substance structures using modern spectral methods, optimize reaction conditions, manage chemical processes, use analytical methods and evaluate results;
- they are able to independently solve even difficult tasks, use experimental procedures and design and optimize new methods, they are able to acquire, process and interpret scientific information;
- as part of the optional subjects, they can choose a focus on biomedical chemistry, which also includes selected key aspects of biological, medical and pharmaceutical sciences, the subjects of this focus deal with the design, identification, synthesis and development of biologically active substances, the study of their metabolism, the interpretation of their action at the molecular level and the study of relationships between structure and activity, the analysis of biological materials using available physico-chemical and biochemical methods;
- they are able to quickly and efficiently adapt to the specific requirements of practice, organize their further education and personal growth.
Graduates of the applied chemistry study program have the prerequisites:
- apply in various chemical, environmental, pharmaceutical and medical, research and operational facilities, participate in solving research and development tasks or manage them, or perform more demanding technical work;
- vabout the production sphere, as well as in state and public administration, where they can use their knowledge from individual fields of chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry and chemical informatics, e.g. in monitoring the natural environment;
- pokračovať vo ysokoškolskom štúdiu na 3. stupni v odbore chémia, alebo v niektorom z príbuzných odborov. In this context, it should be noted that the 3rd degree applied analytical and bioanalytical chemistry study program is currently being implemented at FPV UCM, which enables university students to continue their studies smoothly.
Professions:
- Chemical laboratory technician
- Chemical production operator
- Process engineer of biochemical production
- Analytical chemist in the development departments
- Validation specialist in quality control departments
- Pharmaceutical representative
- Researcher at universities
Requirements for applicants, method of selection and recommended personality requirements
Number of students admitted to the study program: 30
The basic condition for admission to study a second degree study program is completion of a first degree study program (according to §56 paragraph 2 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Universities and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure takes place without an entrance exam.
When being admitted to the chosen study program, the fact is taken into account whether the applicant completed the study program at FPV UCM in Trnava or at another university of a related field. The result of the bachelor's study is evaluated during admission to the master's study program. In the case of applicants from other faculties and completing a bachelor's degree in related fields, the composition of completed subjects in the first degree is also evaluated. In the case of completing a bachelor's degree in a related field, the FPV admissions committee may require admission exams. More information here.
