09/04/2024 LECTURE ETHICS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: QUESTIONS AND CHALLENGES

We invite you to the lecture format Science in the cenTTre, where this time we will deal with the topic of artificial intelligence and the advantages and risks it brings with it.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing various aspects of human society such as economy, health, education, security and entertainment. However, alongside the benefits and opportunities, AI also poses risks such as privacy violations, discrimination, lack of transparency, liability and violation of human dignity. It is therefore essential to ensure that AI is developed in a responsible and ethical manner.

Prof. RNDr. Jiří Pospíchal, DrSc. in the lecture, he will point out the shortcomings and limitations that need to be addressed regarding the introduction and use of AI systems.

06/11/2023 LECTURE SECRETS OF PLANT DEFENSE STRATEGIE

With November's Science in the cenTTre, we will get closer to the everyday life of plants.

Plants are crucial for the survival of animals and humans, their own survival, on the contrary, depends on the favor or adverse environmental conditions.
Although they don't have the immunity we know in animals and they don't even know how to run away, they are true masters of resisting various environmental stresses. The lecture will outline how they actually do it, what it costs them and what the success of their defense strategies depends on.

The figures on the number of infected and dead in the world are alarming. Is the sword of Damocles hanging over us? To what extent are the fears about this cosmopolitan infection justified? What types of bacteria can still be a threat to human health? Microbiologist Milan Seman will provide answers to these and other questions.

This time we will focus on practical organic chemistry and its use in the design of functional materials.

RNDr. Zita Tokárová, PhD. In his lecture, he will explain to you what biochemical, physical or other knowledge from associated scientific disciplines is necessary to brighten the screens of smartphones and TVs used on a daily basis.

It will reveal to us what various pitfalls, but also new knowledge, work and research aimed at connecting several scientific branches can bring, and it will present us with news from the development of new photoactive compounds affecting the field of photodynamic therapy. More info.

What does it look like and what information does it contain? You will learn all this at the science event in CenTTre.

When? On Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
The lecture will be led by RNDr. Michal Konečný, PhD.

During the presentation, you will learn about the discovery of the DNA molecule, its properties and various forms. We will describe what processes in the cell are defined by the DNA molecule and how the inheritance process is ensured.
We will give examples of some of the most common rare genetic diseases, but also how DNA affects common civilization diseases.More info.
