GLOBAL UNIVERSITY NETWORK FOR INNOVATION (GUNI)
UCM is now part of a network of highly innovative members with a particular interest in the social engagement of higher education, which includes almost 290 institutions from around the world, among them UNESCO Chairs in Higher Education, higher education institutions, research centers and related higher education networks.
GUNi was created in 1999 following the first UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education, organized by UNESCO to follow up and facilitate the implementation of its main decisions. It is supported by UNESCO and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP), which has hosted its secretariat and presidency since 2014.
It is one of the world's leading think-tank organizations in the field of higher education policy and management. It represents an international network that currently unites 291 members from 87 countries, including higher education institutions, UNESCO departments and research centers. At the same time, it acts as a reference institution in the implementation of Agenda 2030 and the goals of sustainable development in higher education.
