Project's partners

Pomeranian University in Słupsk

Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko

University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava

The project is co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.

The International Visegrad Fund is an international donor organization established by the governments of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). Its aim is to support closer understanding and cooperation among people in the V4 region, as well as between the V4 region and other countries and regions, particularly in the non-EU neighborhood of the Eastern Partnership countries and in the Western Balkans. The fund does fosters the development of civil society by financing joint grant projects and by awarding university scholarships and artist residencies. The fund’s annual budget of €10 million consists of equal contributions by the V4 governments.

FOCUS AREA OF THE PROJECT

Education and Capacity Building,Improving hard and soft skills for the 21st century through formal and non-formal educational methods.

Project Purpose

This project aims to foster a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society by equipping individuals and communities with eco-skills. It seeks to bridge the gap between environmental knowledge and action by promoting experiential learning and cross-border exchange of best practices in eco-skills formation.

Relevance

The European Green Deal highlights the critical environmental challenges facing the continent and outlines pathways for their resolution. Education is the cornerstone of building an environmentally conscious nation, setting the stage for future energy and climate policy implementation. By promoting eco-skills education, the project empowers individuals and communities to adopt sustainable practices, mitigate environmental degradation, and contribute to a more resilient region. The collaboration between scientists and educators from different countries provides a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about best practices in eco-sustainability. The project's relevance is rooted in the pressing need to address the environmental challenges outlined in the European Green Deal. By enhancing eco-skills among the population, particularly youth, the project contributes to Ukraine's efforts to align with European environmental standards and foster a more sustainable future.

The project's innovative elements include

· cross-border collaboration - the project brings together educators and students from Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and perspectives;

· experiential learning - the focus on hands-on activities and field research provides participants with practical skills and a deeper understanding of ecological principles;

· open access - the project will create a valuable resource for educators to integrate eco-skills into their teaching.
