Unique faculty scientific and creative workplaces
At our faculty, we have several specialized workplaces where scientific research activities are carried out.
At our faculty, we have several specialized workplaces where scientific research activities are carried out.

These scientific laboratories are specialized workplaces focused on the production, isolation, separation and purification of biologically active metabolites, focusing on both primary and secondary metabolites. Thanks to modern instrumentation, it enables detailed analysis of the chemical composition of samples and optimization of purification processes. It is also possible to realize the production of metabolites in larger volumes, focusing mainly on fermentation processes leading to the biosynthesis of biopolymers, which are suitable for the production of biodegradable bioplastics. Thanks to modern equipment, it enables the optimization of cultivation conditions and efficient acquisition of target products with an emphasis on sustainability and industrial use.
The equipment of these laboratories is, for example, an Agilent HPLC/PDA fermenter, an Agilent GC-FID, a Heidolph rotary vacuum evaporator with a cooler and a vacuum pump, a ThermoScientific fluorescence reader, a ThermoScientific UV-VIS reader, columns intended for chromatography (gel permeation chromatography, ionex chromatography), 5L Biostat A plus Sartorius, a device intended for isoelectric focusing, thermomixer comfort, IKA MS3 BASIC, a Bandelin Sonopuls UW sonifier 2200, autoclave Astell, microscopes, microplate counters Biotek El800 and MRX /(Dynex), UV-Vis spectrophotometer, laboratory centrifuge UNIVERSAL 320 R, orbital shaker PSU-20 (Biosan), environmental shaker ES-20, centrifuge HETTICH UNIVERSAL 32, cooled centrifuge HETTICH MIKRO 22 R, microcentrifuge Eppendorf Minispin, electrophoresis HOEFER SE 245, MPLC preparative chromatography system, sieving device, lyophilizer, basic laboratory equipment (analytical scales, preweighers, automatic pipettes, pH-meter, dryer).
The laboratory focuses on research and development of methods forthe in vitro production of plant biomass, plant stem cells and specific secondary metabolites, which have potential use in various industries, primarily in pharmaceuticals, medicine, cosmetics and biologization of plant production.
In terms of equipment, these laboratories d have two large-capacity (internal volume 7 m3), cultivation (growth) chambers Fitoclima Walk-In 5000 PHL (Aralab), the laboratories also contain air-conditioned chambers (Memmert ICH260L), also with internal lighting, biological safety cabinets (boxes) Airstream® Plus Class II (Esco), horizontal and vertical autoclaves (Systec VX-75 and D 65). Common laboratory equipment (analytical scales, pH meters, devices for the production of super-pure water, water baths, also with a shaker, horizontal and orbital shakers, vortex, horizontal and vertical electrophoretic units with electric current sources and sets of automatic pipettes)
The fermentation laboratory with a thermostatic room is a specialized workplace intended for scientific research in the field of biotechnology and microbiology. Its main task is the cultivation of microorganisms under controlled conditions with the aim of producing valuable metabolites, such as, enzymes, bioplastics and other biologically active substances.
The fermentation laboratory contains basic equipment for working with microorganisms and their subsequent cultivation in order to obtain the desired product, such as an inoculation chamber (UV light, automatic kahan, McFarrland apparatus, vortex), microscopes (VWR), magnetic stirrers, shakers, hood, basic laboratory equipment (analytical balances, preweighers, automatic pipettes, pH-meter, dryer).
The laboratory specializes in the development and application of advanced molecular-biological methods, aimed at the diagnosis and elimination of phytopathogens that threaten economic crops. Research in this laboratory focuses on ensuring crop health and optimizing agrotechnical practices to reduce losses caused by plant diseases.
The laboratory has equipment such as the illumina MiSeq System for fast "next-generation" sequencing, the genetic capillary analyzer SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer for sequencing (according to Sanger) and fragment analysis in one run, the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer system for electrophoretic analysis of biomolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins), the BioTek Epoch 2 Microplate Spectrophotometer, centrifuges with replaceable rotors, with with and without cooling (Hermle), ultrafreezers (Arctico) -horizontal and vertical, NanoPhotometer N60 for measuring nucleic acids and proteins in UV, Qubit Flex fluorometer for high-precision quantification of DNA, RNA, microRNA and proteins, thermocycler TOne 96 G with gradient function (Analytik Jena). Common laboratory equipment (analytical scales, pH meters, devices for the production of super-pure water, water baths, also with a shaker, horizontal and orbital shakers, vortex, horizontal and vertical electrophoretic units with electric current sources and sets of automatic pipettes).
Research activity in laboratories such as a biochemistry laboratory or a microbiology laboratory intended for students as part of regular teaching is primarily aimed at supporting the educational process and developing practical skills.
In these laboratories there is a UV-VIS spectrophotometer, magnetic stirrers, vortexes, rotary vacuum evaporator, autoclave, thermostatic box, microscopes, basic laboratory equipment (analytical scales, preweighers, automatic pipettes, pH-meter, dryer).
