Pierre de Coubertin Gymnasium students visit our laboratories

On May 28, we had the honour to welcome students from the Pierre de Coubertin Grammar School in Piešt'any to our laboratories in Špačince. This visit was part of their educational programme, which focuses on practical skills in the field of natural sciences.

During the laboratory experience, the students tried out a number of experiments and practical tasks in the fields of biology, biotechnology and chemistry. They covered a variety of topics that allowed them to delve deeper into the fascinating world of science. The main activities included:

Rapid photometric assays of bioactive compounds in plant extracts on microtiter plates, where students learned how to analyse the presence of bioactive compounds.

Photosynthesis, the basic building block of life on Earth, was another topic that students explored in detail, learning about its importance to ecosystems.

The magic of colour - students focused on the extraction of anthocyanins from vegetables and observed their changes at different pHs. In addition, they tested the viability of seeds by vital staining, providing valuable insights into plant biodiversity.

DNA and urine under the microscope - this activity allowed them to discover what these samples can reveal about genetic information and health.

What does your oil reveal? - Students engaged in a chemical analysis of cooking oils to learn about their composition and quality.

Thank you to the students for their participation and interest! We look forward to continuing to work with them on professional activities and hope that this experience inspires them to further their studies and explore the world of natural science.
