Educators from the Institute of Computer Technologies and Informatics FPV UCM wrote a study on Deepfake tools, which caught the attention of the American Forbes

Educators from the Institute of Computer Technologies and Informatics FPV UCM, doctor Miroslav Ölvecký, associate professor Ladislav Huraj and student Ivan Brlej, have published a study on the detection of Deepfake technologies, which has attracted the attention of the renowned American magazine Forbes. Their research, published in the February issue of the professional journal TEMJournal (2025, pp. 64-77) under the title "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Deepfake Video Detection Tools: A Comparative Study", was recognized in a Forbes article dedicated to the latest trends in the field of artificial intelligence.

"We are very honored that our work has been picked up by international media outlets such as Forbes. It is proof that even local scientific projects can have a global impact," said Dr. Miroslav Ölvecký. The study compares five leading deepfake video detectors, including both open-source and commercial solutions. The study showed that the commercial Bio-ID detector achieved an accuracy rate of up to 98%, making it one of the most effective tools in the global fight against disinformation and cybercrime.

In its May 2, 2025 article, Forbes highlights not only the scientific value of the study, but also its practical benefits for both the private and public sectors. "At a time when deepfake technologies are becoming increasingly sophisticated, it is important to have tools that can quickly and reliably detect fraudulent content," added Associate Professor Ladislav Huraj.

The study is freely available online in TEMJournal(https://www.temjournal.com/content/141/TEMJournalFebruary2025_64_77.pdf), and the Forbes article can be read here(https://www.forbes.com/sites/torconstantino/2025/05/02/the-deepfake-detector-youve-never-heard-of-thats-98-accurate/). UCM has thus once again joined the ranks of institutions whose research is changing the world of technology and contributing to a more secure digital space.
