FPV UCM and GenT join forces for young people in Trnava

Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava signed a memorandum of cooperation with the municipal contribution organization GenT. The partnership creates a space for connecting the academic environment, the city and young people who want to actively influence the events in their surroundings.

The cooperation is intended to support the development of informal education, professional activities, discussions, workshops and projects intended especially for students and the younger generation. The common goal is to create opportunities where young people can gain new knowledge, develop practical skills, bring their own ideas and get involved in the life of the city of Trnava.

"We already had the opportunity to collaborate with the UCM Faculty of Natural Sciences on a specific project, and it was this experience that showed us that connecting the university environment with activities for young people in Trnava makes a lot of sense. That is also why we decided to further develop our cooperation and declare it as a longer-term partnership.

We see several areas in which we can complement each other, from involving students in real GenT projects and activities to bringing professional, technological and innovative topics closer to young people. We want to create opportunities thanks to which they will be able to develop their knowledge, digital skills, creativity and at the same time become more actively involved in the life of the city.

We believe that the partnership with FPV UCM will allow us to gradually create other joint activities that will benefit young people and Trnava."

said Lukáš Hrošovský, director of the municipal contribution organization GenT.

For FPV UCM, the memorandum represents another step in strengthening its openness towards the city and the region. The faculty wants to connect its professional background, the experience of teachers and researchers, as well as the potential of students with the current needs of society. Space for collaboration is offered mainly in the areas of informatics, digital technologies, popularization of science, environmental topics, media and digital literacy or career development.

GenT is a municipal non-profit organization based in Trnava that works with young people and develops community spaces and activities through the Klubovne project. The memorandum thus connects the university environment with an organization that is a natural partner in creating opportunities for the young generation in the city.

„Cooperation with GenT allows us to reach students and young people outside the university environment and show that natural sciences, informatics and modern technologies can be not only a professional subject, but also a practical tool for solving everyday challenges.“ stated doc. RNDr. Daniela Ondrejovič Chmelová, PhD., dean of FPV UCM.

In the near future, the partners can prepare joint lectures, discussions with experts, popularization events, workshops or projects that will support creativity, critical thinking and digital competences of young people. The memorandum is therefore the beginning of long-term cooperation, the benefit of which will be a livelier academic and community environment in Trnava.
