Prof. Muhammet Yıldırım from Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, a specialist in organic chemistry, visited the UCM Faculty of Natural Sciences these days.
In his research, the professor deals with the synthesis and characterization of new types of compounds for the perfumery industry. He is an active scientist who publishes annually in prestigious foreign peer-reviewed journals of Elsevier, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Wiley publishers. In his teaching activities, he focuses on basic and advanced organic chemistry, biomedical chemistry and spectral methods.
That is why he chose our faculty as the destination of his exchange stay, namely the Institute of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, which covers organic chemistry and spectral methods. He was most interested in the laboratories of organic and chemical synthesis under the guidance of doc. Zyty Tokárová and the instrumentation of the Analytical-Diagnostic Center, which is the responsibility of doc. Cyril Rajnák.
Professor Yıldırım led professional discussions with several colleagues and ended his working stay with a lecture dedicated to his own research. It attracted not only the staff of the Institute of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, but also colleagues from the field of biology, to whom we sincerely thank for their participation and stimulating discussions. Thanks also go to vice-dean Vešelényiová, who arranged this visit as part of foreign cooperation.
At the same time, Professor Yıldırım, in his position as coordinator of the Erasmus program at the University of Bol, addressed those interested in a study stay at this university through a short video invitation. He also expressed hope for active cooperation with doc. Tokárová and offered opportunities for joint research in the area of biological effect prediction using computational approaches.
Despite the fact that it was a business visit, it was conducted in a friendly spirit and brought both parties involved a pleasant refreshment on these hot days
