Promotion of study programmes and scientific activities at the Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Natural Sciences is actively involved in the popularisation of its study programmes and scientific activities. As part of the presentation of the activities of the Department of Environmental Sciences, interesting demonstrations of experiments illustrating the importance of environmental research were prepared for students of the Secondary Vocational School of Woodworking and Construction in Krásno nad Kysucou.

The event also included a presentation of research activities carried out within the Interreg project Adaptation measures for water retention in agricultural landscapes (ADAPTA). This project focuses on the implementation of measures to combat climate change and improve water management. During the presentation, modern monitoring equipment such as drones were demonstrated, which are used to assess the state of the environment and to effectively plan adaptation measures.
These activities confirm the Faculty of Natural Sciences' commitment to the practical application of scientific knowledge to life and its involvement in addressing current environmental challenges.

One of the main demonstrations was the use of a particle camera to demonstrate the penetrability of ionising radiation. This experiment gave participants the opportunity to see first-hand the differences in the penetrability of different types of radiation and explained their use in environmental analysis. At the same time, different water purification processes currently applied in environmental engineering were introduced.
