Our student Jakub Švaňa won the Gold Medal with Lúčnica at a prestigious competition in Malaysia
Jakub Švaňa, a third-year bachelor's student in the Environmental Protection and Restoration program, is a member of the Lúčnica choir. He recently participated with the ensemble in an international competition in Malaysia, where they won a prestigious award – the Gold Band.
Jakub sees his success not only as the result of his work in an artistic collective, but also as a sign of the support he receives from his faculty. As he says:
"I would like to express my deep gratitude to the university for creating conditions for students, including myself, that not only allow us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the natural sciences, but also enable students to thrive in their personal lives, which are very interconnected."
He adds that the academic environment has also helped him develop qualities that are important in artistic activity:
"I think that without overcoming the barriers that I was able to overcome in all the seminars and presentations, without exercising my mind in a different direction, I would not be where I am now."
Winning the gold medal on the international stage is a significant achievement not only for the student himself, but also for UCM, which can be proud of its talented and active students who are also active outside the academic sphere.
