Visit of students from Ján Baltázar Magin High School in Vrbovo

 

On March 12, 2026, our faculty was visited by students from the Ján Baltázár Magin High School in Vrbovo, for whom a professional program was prepared combining theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations of work in laboratories.

In the beginning, the students participated in two popular science lectures. The first of them, called "Green Roofs", focused on the importance of green roof systems in the urban environment. Participants learned about their contribution to reducing urban overheating, retaining rainwater, as well as improving air quality and supporting biodiversity.

The second lecture "Change of the protein profile in the model organism Euglena gracilis" approached the importance of proteins as basic structural and functional molecules in living organisms. Students gained insight into their role in biological processes and the changes that occur under stressful conditions.

The lectures were followed by the presentation of individual departments of the faculty in the form of interactive stations. Students had the opportunity to participate in various laboratory exercises and experiments, through which they became more familiar with the practical side of studying natural sciences. In this way, they looked into the fields of informatics, chemistry, biology, environmental sciences and biotechnology.

The visit contributed to the popularization of natural sciences among high school students and provided them with valuable inspiration when deciding on their further studies at university.
