► STRENGTHEN YOUR BIO-TEETH!
What will you learn while studying biotechnology?
When you complete your Biotechnology degree, you'll have a strong foundation in many areas of science that will open doors to a variety of industries. You'll gain knowledge of chemistry, biology, genetics and ecology, as well as specific biotechnology disciplines such as microbial, agricultural, enzyme and environmental biotechnology.
Your skills and knowledge:
- Chemistry and biology: you will master different areas of chemistry, such as organic, inorganic, analytical and biochemistry, as well as biology (microbiology and molecular biology).
- Genetics and biotechnology: You will understand the basics of genetics and learn how to manipulate the genetic material of organisms.
- Practical skills: You will learn how to define scientific hypotheses, design and carry out experiments, analyse results and present your findings.
- Specialist areas: In the BSc you will also learn about virology, toxicology, bioinformatics, food quality and many other areas that are directly applicable in practice.
- International communication.
You'll also gain a broader perspective on biotechnology:
You will not only be a technical expert, but you will also understand the economic, legal, ethical and environmental aspects of biotechnology. This knowledge will enable you to pursue careers in science, research and business.
Where can you find a job after graduating with a BSc in Biotechnology?
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in biotechnology, you can find a career in a variety of fields such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare and environmental sectors. You will have the opportunity to work in both research and practice where you can contribute to the conservation of nature, the improvement of health and the creation of new products.
Some of the careers open to you include:
- Lab Technician: working in different departments (biochemistry, microbiology and more).
- Chemical Production Operator: Responsibility for production and processes in chemical plants.
- Fermenter/distiller production worker: Specialist in the production and processing of products such as yeast or distillates.
- Production Technician: Ensuring the proper production of biotechnology products and equipment.
And up to 90% of our graduates go on to study for a master's degree in biotechnology or related fields to further develop themselves in this dynamic and promising field.
