Education goals and profile of graduates
The applied informatics study program in its third degree enables students to develop and deepen their knowledge of informatics methods and tools and their application skills in a wide range of areas. It follows on from study programs providing basic methods and means of informatics from the specification of problems, through the design and implementation of their algorithmic and non-algorithmic solutions, analysis of solution properties, up to the properties of program and technical means of informatics. Part of the study are the methods of scientific work, familiarization with the current state of research in the subject area of research, the search for open problems and independent scientific work. The study program encourages the principles of scientific work, its ethical and social aspects, scientific problem formulation, presentation and publication of scientific results, provides the necessary knowledge for the development of the scientific and study field, emphasizes the link between research and development - application and evaluation of one's own contribution to practice. It also stimulates the graduate's creative activity in the field of applied informatics.
The result of education is competence, i.e. the student acquires the ability to:
- ddemonstrate creative work on current research and development problems,
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a wide range of topics within a multidisciplinary context that are directly applicable to solving problems arising from real-world needs,
- to master the scientific methods of research and development in the field of applied informatics with a particular focus on the methods and means of designing IT tools for solving problems in selected problem areas,
- have basic management skills, can lead a research team and plan team tasks/li>
Graduates of doctoral studies
The graduate has an active command of a foreign language (English), is able to work in a team, forecast developments in his field. The graduate has the ability to independently solve challenging scientific problems in the whole range of areas of applied informatics, in which he knows how to creatively apply advanced methods and techniques of design and development of information technology applications, and is also ready for immediate entry into the labor market. The graduate will learn to search, process and interpret information from available sources (scientific databases, professional publications). He knows how to process, publish and present the obtained results at scientific events. Students are also involved in solving scientific projects, thereby developing and deepening the principles of scientific work, solving complex problems, analytical and synthetic thinking, and a sense of teamwork.
