Wondering what causes pollution on the planet and how to address it? Do you want to know what happens to the land, water and air when humans interfere with them? And especially - do you want to learn how to help them? Then the Environmental Conservation and Restoration programme is for you.

Learning objectives and graduate profile

You will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in ecological and environmental sciences. During your studies you will acquire:

• A solid foundation in biology, chemistry, physics and other natural sciences,
• knowledge of global environmental problems and how to solve them,
• an overview of the components of the environment - how they change, how they can be protected and kept healthy,
• knowledge of remediation and restoration technologies, waste management and hazardous waste treatment,
• an introduction to radioecology - how radioactive substances affect the environment,
• the ability to communicate professionally, including in English, and to present the results of one's own work.

Your studies won't just be about theory - you'll have hands-on work experience, real measurements and solving specific problems in the field and in the laboratory. Thanks to this you will:

• master the laboratory techniques and methodologies used in environmental analysis,
• be able to measure and monitor air, water and soil quality, including radioactive substances,
• ready to apply remediation technologies and environmental consulting,
• Able to present results, communicate in a team and work effectively with professionals.

Upon graduation, you will be able to:

• Analyse environmental conditions, identify contamination or degradation and propose solutions,
• work in the field of monitoring of natural and artificial radioactivity,
• design and evaluate remediation measures and optimize them for practice,
• understand environmental legislation and apply it in practice,
• communicate proposals and results in a professional environment and actively participate in the development of new solutions,
• work in government, research institutions, the private sector or non-profit organisations.

Requirements for applicants, method of selection and recommended personal qualifications
Number of students admitted to the programme: 50
The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's degree programme is the acquisition of full secondary education or full secondary vocational education (Section 56(1) of Act No 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure takes place without an entrance examination.
For admission to the bachelor's degree programme, data on the applicant's studies at secondary school will be decisive. More information here.
